Images of Modern America: Abandoned Asylums of Massachusetts

by LF Blanchard and Tammy Rebello

We seek to tell the story of mental illness and the historical changes in the mental health field. Many institutions have closed, are in the process of being torn down, or are already gone. There have been giant leaps forward in the field of psychology and the treatment of those with mental illness in the past five-and-a-half decades. However the stigma of mental illness, and even the misconceptions of what mental illness is, remains. Within the walls of these decaying buildings are trapped shadows of yesterday, each with its own story to tell.

Release date: February 1st, 2016
